With spring just around the corner, you’re probably planning a summer getaway in your RV. Maybe you’ll be making your way up the East Coast, or perhaps you’re planning to do some sightseeing here in Texas. No matter where you decide to go, it’s important to make sure that you and your passengers are fully prepared for the journey. In today’s post, we’ll provide you with a few helpful tips that will help prepare for your next big road trip.

ROAD TRIP TIPS

Get an RV Inspection

Whether you use your RV throughout the year or are just now pulling it out of storage, it’s always a good idea to have it inspected before you hit the road. Your RV has a wide range of components that could have broken down or become less effective since your last trip, and you don’t want an unexpected problem to put a damper on your getaway. Bring your RV to us and we’ll provide you with the peace of mind that you deserve!

Drive Defensively

No matter how long or short your trip is going to be, you should always remember to drive defensively. Distracted driving is unfortunately far too prevalent on the road, and you need to be on your guard at all times to protect yourself and your passengers. A few of the most important defensive driving tips include:

  • Obeying the speed limit at all times.
  • Double- and triple-checking your blind spots before changing lanes.
  • Delegating music, navigation, and other tasks to your passengers so that you can drive distraction-free.
  • Pulling over if you feel fatigued or sleepy.

Don’t Forget the Little Things

It’s easy to get caught up in looking forward to your destination, but you shouldn’t forget that it’s the little things that are often the most memorable. Stop to eat at local restaurants, pull over to look at scenic areas, and above all else, enjoy the ride!

Invest in RV Repairs and Maintenance

Before you leave, make sure that you’ve scheduled an RV maintenance appointment to ensure that everything in your RV is working smoothly. Now is the perfect time to invest in an oil change, new tires, wipers, and anything else that hasn’t been changed since your last road trip. Our friendly RV technicians will point out anything that needs to be replaced before you leave, and we can also make a note of anything should be changed in the next few months.

We hope that today’s entry will help you prepare for your upcoming road trip. Keep an eye on our blog page, as we plan to continue this post in a second installment.
